The Sun's wrestling journalist Simon Rothstein has reported that former WWE/ECW Superstar Rob Van Dam has joked that he was unaware that the group had come to an end, as he thought it died years ago. Speaking To The Sun, RVD said:

"Is ECW still around? I'll be damned."
Meanwhile, another ex-ECW "Original" Taz has updated his Facebook with further thoughts on Vince McMahon's handling of the "shutdown" and announcement this past week:
[Credit: The Sun Online]:
"A lot of blood, sweat and tears were dropped during the original ECW's life!
"If you are going to thank cameramen and directors, then acknowledge the past history because it's well deserved."
"If you utilised the letters ECW to make a lot of money over the past several years I would assume that you respect the history of ECW?
"If you would produce and sell a successful DVD documenting the company's history, I would assume you feel that the original ECW history has value.
"Then why not give it a proper send off?"
Taz now works as an announcer for TNA. RVD left WWE in 2007 (largely due to their mishandling of the ECW project) and has largely stayed away from the mainstream scene, save for an appearance at last year's Royal Rumble, as well as a few dates for various indy promotions all over the world.
