Global Champ Rob Terry Talks To The Sun - 31/1/10 - Matthew Evans @ 11:36 PST

Welsh TNA Superstar Rob Terry spoke to Rob McNichol of The Sun following his Global Championship win over Eric Young on January 27 at the TNA "Maximum IMPACT!" show in Cardiff (Terry became the first Welsh wrestler to win a championship in a major wrestling organisation and gave TNA their first title change outside the U.S.).

Below is what "Big Rob" had to say:

[Credit: The Sun Online]:

"It feels absolutely amazing. I'm lost for words.

"It was very unexpected — and for it to happen in Cardiff with my friends and family here as well.

"I didn't know until late on that is was going to be a title match. It was a real last-minute thing. That surprise on my face was real."

As far as I know I'm the first guy from Wales to reach the 'big leagues' in the US.

"To be part of the tour was an honour, but to come to Wales and win a title was something else.

"If anything it's given me a taste of what's to come and will make me push even further to make it to the top."

Rob Terry is a former bodybuilder from Swansea who was trained by Team 3D after being approached (and later released) by WWE. Prior to the Cardiff show, he had mainly acted as an enforcer for The British Invasion (Brutus Magnus & Doug Williams) and had only worked on TNA Television as a heel.

However, this past Wednesday was "his" night. He became a fan favourite, received a hero's welcome from his countrymen and won his first major singles championship.
